Use | Used as a fabric softener. Two long chain alkyl groups can reduce the water solubility of the softener, and cations have strong adsorption, thus this softener has good washing resistance and softening effect. Two of the long chain alkyl groups have introduced amide bonds, which can reduce the friction coefficient between fibers and improve the softness of the fabric. |

1. Synthesis of 1-aminoethyl-2-phenyl-2-imidazoline (product 1)
Add 12.2kg (1mol) of benzoic acid and 15.5kg (1.5mol) of diethylenetriamine to the reactor and heat to completely melt the benzoic acid. Reduce the pressure to 26.7kPa, stir and heat the reaction mixture, and gradually increase the temperature from 130 ℃ to 170 ℃ within 3h. During the reaction, the by-product water is evaporated. Continue heating the reaction mixture to 200 ℃, and the system pressure gradually decreases from 26.7 kPa to 3.9 kPa within 2.5 hours, steaming out excess amine. Cool the reaction mixture under reduced pressure to room temperature, separate by column chromatography, use chloroform as the eluent, and obtain 13.9kg of viscous liquid after removing the eluent.
2. Synthesis of 4-Benzyldiethylenetriamine (Product 2)
Mix 0.5mol of 1-aminoethyl-2-phenyl-2-imidazoline with 8L of isopropanol and stir to completely dissolve the reactant. Add concentrated hydrochloric acid dropwise and adjust the pH of the reaction solution to 7. Add 30L of isopropanol solution dissolved in 1.9kg (0.5mol) of sodium borohydride dropwise, and continue stirring for 1 hour. Maintain the pH of the reaction solution during the reaction process. After stirring for 1 hour, adjust the pH of the reaction mixture to 2-3 with concentrated hydrochloric acid. A large amount of white solids precipitate, filter, and add the precipitate to a small amount of water. Adjust the pH to 9-10 with 40% sodium hydroxide, and heat slightly to dissolve the precipitate.
3. Synthesis of benzyl bis (octadecamidoethyl) amine (product 3)
Add 0.15mol of 4-benzylidethylenetriamine and 0.3mol of stearic acid to the reactor, heat and melt, reduce pressure to 26.7kPa, stir and heat to 140 ℃ for 0.5h, evaporate a small amount of water, cool, and wash with isopropanol to obtain 9.7kg of product.
4. Synthesis of methyl benzyl bis (octadecamidoethyl) ammonium salt (product 4)
Add 0.4mol of compound (3) and 20L of isopropanol to the reactor, heat to dissolve, stir and add 0.04mol of dimethyl sulfate dropwise, reflux for 2 hours, and monitor with thin layer chromatography (TLC) until the raw material point basically disappears. Steam out isopropanol to obtain 23.8kg of product 4.
5. Synthesis of dibenzyl bis (octadecamidoethyl) ammonium salt (product 5)
Add 0.5mol of product 3 and 20L of isopropanol to the reactor, heat to dissolve, stir and add 0.5mol of benzyl chloride dropwise, stir and reflux for 2 hours, evaporate isopropanol, and purify with organic solvent to obtain 29.8kg of product 5. Solvent recovery and recycling.
